The Spanish Gangster Disciples were formed on the South Side of Chicago in the early 1980s. Membership is predominantly Hispanic males, but does consist of some White and Black males.

The development of the Spanish Gangster Disciples attempted to unify all of the “Latino Folks” organizations while also being involved in political and social undertaking. The SGD’s concept was originated in 1974 on the Southside of Chicago.
